Horror in Seconds, Canada’s first BIPOC Horror Film Festival, launched in November 2023 with remarkable success and was described as "Vancouver's most unique Film Festival" by The Georgia Straight.
It revolutionized the concept of Film Festivals by creating a platform for underrepresented artists to unleash their creativity using their smartphones
Horror in Seconds aims at broadening representation, accessibility, and breaking the financial barriers BIPOC artists face. Relying solely on the power of visual storytelling to evoke fear, the Festival showcases bite-sized shorts filmed on the participants’ smartphones and with no dialogue, to ensure that they are accessible to the deaf and hard of hearing communities.
By limiting the shorts’ submissions to 60 seconds or less, the Festival subverts the traditional ways of storytelling and encourages the emerging artists, to unleash their creativity with some spine-chilling stories.
Beside film screenings, the Festival’s inaugural year took it to the next level and included: horror-lesque, live performances and horror poetry night; a unique and innovative way to highlight various local talents in multiple art forms.
Horror in Seconds returns for a second year on December Friday the 13th, 2024 with programming that includes film screenings, horror drag and horrorlesque.
By supporting Horror in Seconds, you are investing in:
-A revolutionary indie platform for accessible filmmaking
- Amplifying the talents of emerging BIPOC filmmakers from around the globe
-Community building
As a potential sponsor, your brand will be at the centre of this innovative experience, captivating audiences and enriching Vancouver’s entertainment industry.
