About the event

Funded in part by United Arts of Central Florida, Cultures Around Us is a multicultural community art exhibition and celebration designed to bring people together through art, culture, and creative expression.

Central Florida is home to a vibrant and diverse population. Cultures Around Us celebrates this diversity by providing a platform for artists to share their heritage, stories, and artistic traditions with the community.

Artists representing cultures including Haitian, Hispanic, African American, Asian, and other communities that contribute to the rich cultural identity of Central Florida will create and exhibit original artwork inspired by their cultural heritage.

Throughout the event, participating artists will offer live demonstrations and mini-lessons, allowing visitors to learn about artistic traditions, techniques, and cultural stories connected to the artwork.

The event is expected to welcome 250+ attendees, artists, and community partners from across Leesburg and surrounding Lake County communities.

This free family-friendly community event will include:

• Multicultural art exhibition

• Live art demonstrations

• Cultural performances

• Interactive community art activities

• Music representing diverse cultures

• Food vendors will be on-site.

Belina Wright

Cultures Around Us is organized by Belina Wright, a Florida-based visual artist, educator, and community arts advocate. With more than 20 years of experience in education and community engagement, Belina is passionate about using the arts to bring people together and celebrate cultural heritage.

Belina is the recipient of the United Arts of Central Florida Individual Artist Grant for the past three years, supporting projects that connect the community through art and cultural experiences. Through this support, she has successfully created and organized events that highlight diverse cultures while making the arts accessible and welcoming to the public.

In addition to her work as an artist, Belina serves as the Assistant Art Director at Artist with a Purpose Gallery, where she collaborates with artists, community leaders, and cultural organizations to develop exhibitions, programs, and events that strengthen the local arts community.
